From 16-20 October 2023, OxValue.AI’s founder, Professor Xiaolan Fu, was invited to attend the 8th World Investment Forum in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The World Investment Forum is the leading international stage for investment and growth discussions. Organised by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), this year’s forum attracted over 8,000 participants from around the world to the weeklong event.

At the forum, Prof. Fu made a significant impact with her active participation in a series of pivotal sessions. She delivered enlightening speeches at the World Economic Forum-UNCTAD event on “Invest Tech,” and contributed to the Investment Promotion discussion, emphasizing the role of investment in fostering a competitive education system. Prof. Fu also delved into the intricacies of trade and investment policies in climate finance and the investment energy transition. Her expertise was further showcased during two academic discussions on international business, and she was honoured to serve as a judge for the 2023 UNCTAD Sustainable Fund Awards, which recognise the outstanding funds that integrate the Sustainable Development Goals and demonstrate excellent financial performance.

About Professor Xiaolan Fu

Professor Xiaolan Fu, the founder of OxValue.AI, serves as a Professor of Technology and International Development at the University of Oxford and is a distinguished Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. She is also the Founding Director of the Technology and Management Centre for Development (TMCD).

Prof. Fu’s academic interests span innovation, technology, foreign direct investment and economic development. She was appointed by the Secretary-General of the United Nations to both the Governing Council of the UN Technology Bank and the Ten-Member High-Level Advisory Group of the UN Technology Facilitation Mechanism. Prof. Fu will share her insights at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)’s events in November 2023.
